Sun Safety
If we could control the weather, agriculture work would be a lot easier! While we can’t control the sun, we can prevent potential harm caused by UV rays and extreme temperatures. UV rays are most intense between 10a-4pm. If you can’t schedule outdoor work to place at another time of day, be sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade, wear a ‘broad spectrum,’ SPF-30 sunscreen and a wide-brim hat. It’s also critical that you become familiar with the signs of heat-related illnesses and be sure anyone you’re working with is familiar of them too!
